Harris Housing Project

In this first-of-its-kind housing project, Launch Housing and the Harris family delivered 47 architecturally designed, studio units across seven sites on underutilised state government land in Melbourne’s West.  The project was identified as an innovative solution to homelessness when the Harris family first approached Launch with the hope of working together in 2016.

Launch Housing’s philosophy is that everyone has a right to safe, secure and dignified housing that allows them to regain stability and wellbeing in their lives. To deliver these unique studio units which are transportable due to the land being leased, Launch Housing engaged both Melbourne based and regional builders with experience in high-quality modular housing. A special feature of this housing is that every resident has their own private fenced lot, which is uncommon for social housing in a dense and expensive city such as Melbourne. Residents are able to garden, keep pets and enjoy being outdoors, all things which greatly improve our quality of life.
